CYC Cruising & Racing

The Racing Programme

The Sailing Committee have put together a full year of racing, including the very popular Pursuit Races, which are mostly held on Friday evenings. We have established Fleets of Sonatas, Dehler 34s and many other cruisers racing under YTC Handicap.

The Cock of the River series on Saturdays is aimed at all classes of cruiser or keel boat and is suitable for slower boats who do one lap while faster boats do two laps. The more serious seasonal series use slightly longer courses in the Colne and Blackwater estuary.

Sonata class boats sail on Wednesday evenings.
Brightlingsea One Design boats have their own series which is shared with Brightlingsea Sailing Club.

PLEASE E-mail your YTC certificate https://rorcrating.com/ryaytc and your Race entry Declaration Form https://colneyachtclub.org.uk/... to Colne Yacht Club waterside@colneyachtclub.org.uk and cc simonfarren@hotmail.com (Simon compiles the handicap start list)

No matter your level of experience, if you want to have a go well try to find the right skipper for you. Fill in the crewing form below and skippers will contact you when they have a space and conditions are suitable.
If you know anyone who may be interested, please direct them here.
Each spring the club also holds a Skippers and Crews Night, which is an ideal opportunity for those wishing to get involved to come along and meet other members of the club. As a result of our Skippers and Crews Nights we know that a number of members are looking for experienced and enthusiastic foredeck hands.

Of course if you are completely new to the game if might be appropriate to start by taking one of our RYA Keel Boat Courses.
Please contact us on colneyctraining@gmail.com for more details on how to get started.
