Brightlingsea One Design Fleet

Designed in 1927 by local shipwright, Robbie Stone, the Brightlingsea One Design has changed little since C1 Jean first took to the water. Built for cruising and racing, the design still offers exciting sailing for all ages.

Today, the active racing fleet comprises 20 boats: while crews are fiercely competitive on the water they are noticeably more relaxed and sociable in the bar. BODs have their own racing programme, sailing sometimes under the Colne Yacht Club burgee and sometimes under Brightlingsea Sailing Club rules. They also have their own social programme, including an annual BBQ and Final Fling lunch.
